JEN & I
This showcase feature has an interesting twist and I’ll be honest, I’ve been hesitant to post it. Not because it isn’t phenomenal, but because it is a showcase nomination I received for me to be featured. I know in 2021 the last featured story in the showcase was about me, but it was a focus on my journey in starting my business, Phenomenally You Life Coaching and more about who I am, and my approach to life and work. I’m much more comfortable being in a place of giving, rather than receiving. I see my greatest success in life to be able to celebrate in the joy and success of others I walk alongside. The more I thought about my hesitation, I realized that in doing so I was contradicting the very PURPOSE of why I created the showcase in the first place. So…I’m ready to claim my nomination and honour myself in the showcase.
After posting a promotional video on my social media to announce the 2022 Phenomenal Woman Showcase and a call for nominations I received a message from Jen, a mother I worked with in support of her beautiful daughter and their family a few years ago.
Her message said, “Wow almost a year later and I was thinking- who could I nominate? I have so many amazing, strong and incredibly gifted women in my life but alas I must pick one…hmmmm that would be you!!!! Stephanie since the first day I met you at that meeting in the school to watching and reading your inspirational and incredible journey I can’t help but feel honoured to know you and to have been a part of your passion of possibilities and your empathic but fierceness of equality and inclusiveness! Your soul is so bright and your generosity overflowing but yet you are a force to be reckoned with in a meeting asking for permanent disability supports – seriously woman you are incredible. Your life coaching journey is just an extra bonus that we all get from your wisdom, talent, and overwhelming compassion. Thank you for helping us bring out our very best in ourselves and allowing us to march forward with pride and confidence. Thank you for always being you ❤️.”
After bawling my eyes out and collecting myself, I sent Jen my response to such an overwhelmingly powerful and thoughtful message of acknowledgement. “I vividly remember the day I walked into that school meeting and met you for the first time…I was in awe of your courage and conviction in advocating for your daughter in such an impactful and respectful way. I thought, ‘Well, this momma doesn’t need me at all!’ But really we needed each other. You needed me to not feel so alone in your battle and to have me walking alongside you. I needed you so that I could learn from you and to experience carving paths to meaningful change that will help countless others for years to come. Because of you. Because of your daughter. I’m so happy to have you in my life always.”
There really aren’t enough words to speak justice to how profound this bond is. This is everything we gave to each other even in the face of adversity, the most difficult moments, and the most incredible joys. We kept showing up. We will always show up.
Words of wisdom and empowerment from Jen & I
