Sherri Wilson

Sherri is a very proud mom of 3 beautiful kids and is happily married to her high school sweetheart -this year will be their 30 year anniversary! She has been very blessed to have the love and support of her family over the years and as she started her own businesses.  She is a HUGE animal lover and has 3 dogs, 2 cats and a pet pig.

I just recently met Sherri when I saw a posting of upcycled furniture she had for sale and it was GORGEOUS! I had a vision to refinish our dining room set and china cabinet, but knew that I did not have the time (or patience haha!) for such a big job right now, so I took a chance and sent her a message to see if she did custom work. You know when you just connect with someone and you know?! Like you just know! This was how I felt with Sherri, and voila – an incredible journey began and I’m so thrilled to have met her and I feel confident that there will be fantastic partnerships and opportunities to empower each other in business AND in life! In addition to her furniture upcycling business, Sherri has another business, so let’s learn more about what she’s offering to the world!

She has her own consulting company called, Sherri Wilson Corporate Consulting – her tag line is “Motivating Change … Inspiring Growth” and that’s exactly what she does. She has been in the learning and development industry almost 20 years. She offers training needs analysis, curriculum design, skills training and facilitation, however, her passion is leadership development.  She believes that people are the heart of any business, and their development and growth should always be priority. You can find her on Facebook  @ https://www.facebook.com/sherriwilsonconsulting and Linked In.

Her furniture business is called, Vintage Upcycled Design by Diva – she painted her first dresser over 10 years ago that she picked up at an auction for $10, and she was hooked! Self taught, she describes her style as Victorian Romance with a little bit of Rock and Roll. In a nutshell, she refinishes antique furniture that “has seen better days” by giving it a facelift and finding it a new home. She also provides custom finishing for client’s existing pieces. Sherri says the best part of this entire process by far has been meeting the most amazing people she would have never met if not for this business. You can find her on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/vintageupcycleddesign/  or Instagram.

Words of wisdom and empowerment from Sherri:

I asked Sherri what she feels has been the most valuable lesson she has learned in 2020, and this is what she had to share.

“The most valuable lesson I learned in 2020 was to never take anything for granted again.  In addition to the pandemic changing the landscape, I experienced health issues that forced me to slow down and start enjoying the journey instead of sprinting for the finish line.  I feel the most calm and content I have ever felt, and try to live every day – and every moment to the fullest.”

I asked Sherri to share her message of strength and empowerment for other women to start 2021 with a positive mindset, and this is her inspiring response.

If I have any advice for my fellow women entrepreneurs it would be;

  • Understand what motivates you – and make sure your goals align accordingly.
  • Be selfish – it’s ok to say “no” and do something special just for you.
  • Invest in yourself – whether it’s personal development, a trip to the spa, or buying yourself flowers – you are worth it!
  • Challenge yourself – try something new this year you always wanted to, but have always been too afraid to try.
  • Make a vision board – they really work!
  • Surround yourself with like minded people that will support and challenge you.
  • Go easy on yourself – this is your journey, your book to write, no one else’s.”

WOW! What an incredible honour to be able to share Sherri’s story with you. By the way, Sherri did such a great job on our dining room set and china cabinet – it is spectacular and her customer service will exceed any expectations.  To see someone, I mean truly see them and recognize their “phenomenal-ness” – (that’s a thing now, just so you know…if you host a showcase you can start making up new words. It’s fun and I highly recommend it!) But really, this is what can happen when you live with an open heart and an open mind. You can meet people who will add to your life in ways you never would have known otherwise. Take time to listen and honour others. Support them when they need it. Cherish and celebrate their strengths. That’s what I see in Sherri. That’s what I see in all of you. That’s what I see in myself. Thank you for reading Sherri’s story, and let’s keep supporting and empowering each other as we continue our journey to live our best life!

SHERRI YOU ARE PHENOMENAL!!!
